It looks like guests are going to have another box to check off on their vacation bucket lists the next time they’re in Hilton Head. The town just opened it’s long-awaited Lowcountry Celebration Park, and it’s already becoming a hit among visitors.
After 18 months of construction and another 7-month delay due to COVID, the park had kids and parents both in anticipation for its grand opening. And for good reason. The park is much more than your typical town park. The park boasts two fitness stations, a children’s museum, a large open pavilion with a stage that will host future events and festivals, a walking path, and a pirate-themed playground for kids known as Adventure Park, which features a large reimagined model of Captain William Hilton’s ship (the ship which discovered the island) with built-on playground equipment, a wading pool, and more.
For added convenience, the park even has wi-fi throughout, along with restroom facilities, lights, and security cameras. There are also benches throughout the park covered with shade structures for parents and babysitters to keep cool during the summer months while kids are playing.
The playground is open to the public from sunrise to sunset, while the park itself is open 24/7. The park provides the perfect spot to get both kids and adults outside and moving. It also allows visitors to not only soak up some of the scenic views of the island, but also to learn more about Hilton Head’s history and landscape and to engage with community groups and local organizations hosting events.
The park is located off of Pope Avenue between the Circle Center Shopping Center and the parking lot for Coligny Beach.
